22/8/22 - Player Setup


First I begun by designing the player in some free pixel art designer app on the play store. I then filled it with different colours to make up the other players. After this I imported the tile set I wanted to use in the game which was 2D Platfrom Tile Set - Cave.  Once it had finished importing I then made it into a tile palette and designed a basic testing level. After that I imported the character controller that brackeys used in his 2D Shooting video. I then imported cinemachine for the player camera. 

After everything was imported I setup my player to work with this controller, which also involved adding a collider to the level. I then decided to add animations to the player running and idle as this is my first time designing pixel art I only animated the scale. Once I had all the characters in the game I begun adding switching between them which basically disabled the movement on other cubes if it wasn't the current one and also switched the cinemachine camera to track that one.  After that I added a trail to each cube for athletics sake.

To make the cubes be able to jump on to other each other I edited the charcter controller to allow the player layer to be ground. I then begun working on the character ability's. I started with the green cubes abilty to cling to walls. [Continued Tomorrow]
